Oct. 05, 2006 - 18:44 MDT AIR FARCE ONE The main man flew into Denver to support a gubernatorial candidate, a $1000 a plate fund raiser. From what I read he said a few words about the candidate, some of which might have been accurate, I don't really know how much hype was involved. Quoting from an article in this morning's Rocky Mountain News by Tillie Fong Mr. Bush had a few words about Damocrats. Quote: "Bush also directed partisan rhetoric against congressional Democrats, whom he accused of thwarting the struggle against suspected terrorism by opposing the reauthorization of the Patriot Act and by challenging the government's interrogation tactics against suspected terrorists." Of course, I suppose he made it all well by saying words about Emily Keyes and to her parents. Quote from an article on that same page: "President Bush offered condolences Wednesday to the family of Emily Keyes." "A lot of Americans -- and I know a lot of folks in Colorado -- express our deepest sympathy to the folks in that good communty about the traic loss of Emily Keyes," Bush said at a Colorado fund-raiser for gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez. "She died one week ago of an unspeakable act of violence." "We join her family in prayer. We extend our deepest sympathies to those good people." Unquote. He then went on to state - Quote:"Bush said he has asked Attorney General Alberto Gonzales and Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings to convene a meeting of experts to determine how the federal government can help state and local officials deal with school shootings." "We want to make it certain around the country that the schoolhouse is a safe place for children to learn," the president said. "And so I'm looking forward to the results of that meeting of how we can facilitate help, and how we can help these communities heal and recover from the tragic events, like those that have taken place in three states over the past couple of weeks." "May God bless Emily's family." +++++++++++++++ I am appalled by things like this. Apparently Democratic congressmen are traitors to the cause because they oppose Mr. Bush's tactics and philosophy. An oxymoron is the Patriot Act, although there are words for each letter of it, still patriotism has been degraded by it to my way of thinking. And then the play to Emily's family and the public with the limp words, Quote "And so I'm looking forward to the results of that meeting of how we can facilitate help, and how we can help these communities heal and recover from the tragic events, like those that have taken place in three states over the past couple of weeks." Unquote. I can't for the life of me think of anything Mr. Bush can do to help in this situation, other than to prod his administration into activities in essence un-American. Another layer of government interference in civilian matters, I guess. Makes me wonder, the machinery he is trying to build -- president's definition of torture, Geneva Convention rules, wiretapping and surviellance, military tribunals and all that -- does he plan on being in office forever to make sure things are run the way he wants them to be ? So anyway, speechifying done, money raised, and our fearless leader departs on AIR FARCE ONE . . . . . . . . . . . . . 5 comments so far
