Oct. 31, 2005 - 21:51 MST MIXED FEELINGS It's been a full day for me, did my part of cleaning house for the Halloween visit of our Great Grand Children. Work a while, sit a while and then go at it again. Along with that, some washing, drying and putting clothes away. In between a few inconsequential chores, among them washing, drying and putting dishes away. And then this evening from six-thirty on until just a bit ago we had a mixed bag of Great Grandchildren and various and sundry related adults. Much visiting, consumption of goodies -- a very enjoyable time for Heather and I. Our mail today had a letter and a Christmas card from a dear friend in Scotland. She is one of the group of folks at our table aboard ship on our Mediterranean cruise, on our fiftieth anniversary 1993. She and her husband were around middle age, then there was a single lady, British with a biting wit, and another English lady, married she was. Don't know just why we had such a good time, but we did at the top of our laughing voices. Seems as if we tickled each other's funny bones inciting us into hilarity that had people at other tables standing up to see what was going on. The serving people hung around our table. Ah well, it was such fun. We kept track of each other ever since. Some time ago our Scotch friend's husband passed away, then the English ladies husband went to his maker also a bit later. The letter we got today gave us the news that the single British lady, (in her 70's) fell, broke her hip and seemed to give up and died. Along with that our Scotch lady friend is in heavy pain as well. Heather and I always felt that, seeing that we were older, we would go first . . . . . but people keep slipping away from us. Life goes on for all of us, with its ups and downs, sadnesses and joy with periods of sheer comfort and love in between. I am at keyboard tonight, tired from cleaning house and getting ready for company and in comfort from the visit from our loved ones, yet, with a tear in my heart which gives me MIXED FEELINGS . . . . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
