2000-02-08 - 01:28:40 GRRRRRRRRRR the majordomo and have done battle since this afternoon. i am trying to be put on a mailing list and no matter how i try, no matter how i follow his directions - - - well he needs an authorization number - - - which i keep sending him with every new subscription request. one time he says if i am going to have the e-mail directed directly to my address i do not have to put my e-mail address on the request - - - the next time he says that if i cant get it all one line to use a backslash at the end of the upper line. i remember that i tried once before, early on, trying to get on a mailing list with the the unmerciful majordomo - - -with no luck - - - - i gave up then - - - i just got through e-mailing the list owner now and asking whaaaaaaaaa ? maybe i will get a common sense answer. i wonder how many people have tried to get on a majordomo list and just said, "the heck with it" and went off in another direction? peace reigned in the home place today, she and i got along beautifully - - - - i am waiting for the other shoe to drop - - - or do i have p.t.s. like the ground pounders in the military get when they have been in action too long. world war one i think they called it "shell shock." well i am going to be a good boy and try to keep things serene. i mutually engaged in many e-mail conversations today and enjoyed every one. checked on the journals i particularly like, nova notes, squishy, sunshyn dreams, shmeul (sp) just stopping by and dirt road ramblin, rant or rejoice. man they are all so good. bonnie has about a million places to go at her location and her pictures are great. this webtv was just what i needed and family could afford for my last birthday. i had become dead bone bored with conventional tv and cable tv that i would usually read a book instead. when i got a tv that had closed captions capability it took about a year to catch up on the programs i had seen and not heard. that closed caption is easy to get used to at least it was for me. now as well as meeting new and interesting people, i can look at art exhibitions, use search engines for many purposes, my hmo has a web site and i am able to go through that to ask for an appointment, to use the medical information on various health interests. oh man, webtv has set me free. i don't think i will ever be able to get a computer, and is doubtful that i could learn the complicated mental contortions required. i don't know but it seems that computers have a habit of going astray periodically. i have enough saved to buy another webtv if this one goes bad and can't be fixed. so i am happy, doing one of the things i like best and meeting some of the greatest people. g'night doug - go to your room 0 comments so far
