Jul. 03, 2005 - 21:14 MDT MAKING A SHOW A very tiny article from the Associated Press showed up mid-paper today. In Full : Bush seeks $1.2 billion to cut malaria in Africa WASHINGTON -- "President Bush on Thursday called for spending $1.2 billion to cut malaria deaths by half by 2010 in Africa, where many of its victims are children." "In the overwhelming majority of cases the victims are less than 5 years old -- their lives ended by nothing more than a mosquito bite," Bush said." "The president also proposed doubling U.S. spending to $400 million to promote the education of girls in Africa and said he would ask for $55 million over three years to improve legal protections for African women against violence and sexual abuse." "The announcement came as Bush prepares to travel to Scotland next week for a meeting focused on Africa." "Earlier, Bush announced $674 million in famine relief and an agreement on debt relief for many poor African nations. The new initiatives allow Bush to blunt criticism that he is turning down proposals to double aid to Africa overall to 0.7 percent of its gross national product. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Apparently Mr. Bush cares nothing about the AIDS epidemic in Africa which is decimating the population in many of those African countries according to what I have read. And also what I have read the use of condoms and information on birth control has been withheld. So even though many Africans might want to have information and the means to control possible pregnancies -- there is no help. Like many other things of this administration it appears they are MAKING A SHOW . . . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
