May. 10, 2005 - 19:56 MDT WHERE GOEST THE WORLD ? Reading in Plain Jane about a three year old girl who was killed by a kick in the head from her Dad, decapitated while her Mom watched and then thrown away. Then reading in the Rocky Mountain News today there is an article about two girls stabbed to death. By Mike Colias of the Associated Press. In part: Second-graders last seen on bicycles in town near Chicago ZION, ILL -- "Two second-grade girls who disappeared while riding bikes together were found dead Monday, both stabbed multiple times and left to die off a bicycle path in a park, authorities said." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ In the same paper today is an article about a baby in a place in Africa. By Rodrique Ngowi of the Associated press In part: Abandoned newborn owes her life to stray dog NAIROBI, KENYA -- "A newborn baby abandoned in a Kenyan forest was saved by a stray dog who apparently carried her to a shed where the infant was discovered nestled with a litter of puppies, witnesses said Monday." "++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ All over the world bad things are happening to infants, babies, little ones. How can this be ? Can't be that many crazies around can there ? What warped personalities do these things ? Every week babies die from abuse of one kind or another. How an adult can bring themselves to be cruel to a baby is beyond my comprehension. And these things seem to be multiplying by the day. I wonder if someday people who are considering getting married will be required to take an intensive course on marriage, child rearing and assumption of responsibility for another human ? Might be a good idea. Apparently it is not being taught very well if at all now. Perhaps though it is self defeating, this thought, will that lead to more people just plain living together ? Will there be any solution to that problem ? Seems that the problem is compounding too. There is another article in this morning's paper by David Carey of The Associated Press. Also in part: Violent Gangs Spreading NEW YORK -- "The rapid spread of vicious street gangs such as MS-13 is causing alarm in cities and suburbs nationwide igniting bitter debate and inspiring a comprehensive anti-gang bill in Congress." "The measure is depicted by backers as the only effective way to counterattack gang violence -- and assailed by critics as an overreaction that could clog both federal courts and adult prisons with youthful offenders, most of them minorities." "Sponsored by Rep. Randy Forbes R-Va., the bill moved swiftly through the House Judiciary Committee last month and is scheduled for a House floor vote Wednesday. It would turn many gang-related violent offenses into federal crimes punishable by mandatory sentences of at least 10 years, expand the range of crimes punishable by death, and enable U.S. Prosecuters to try 16 and 17 year old gang members as adults in federal courts." "These aren't petty hoodlums," Forbes said." "They're cutting people's heads off, doing countersurveillance on police." +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Opinions here - - - - Seems to me that some crimes call for trial as an adult and to my mind the person doing the crime is lost to humanity for good already. A crime serious enough to cause an adult to do serious time should cause a teenager to be tried as an adult for the same occurrence. As far as being considered as insane to do time in a state hospital until they figure out how to play the people at the helm, put them in a facilty where they get treatment, but put them away, way away. As far as the prisons being crowded, wonder why we are warehousing petty users of marijuana for a non-violent crime such as using the stuff ? Alcohol is possibly more addictive than marijuana, yet people don't do time for drinking very often. Teens get booze and the cops go after the real offenders, thir parents or guardians. I think there is something seriously wrong in our country now when the prison populations are approaching the size of small towns, people in there who are non-violent, who would work if let free. Wonder what the percentage there are of them in each prison ? In a side bar to the article are interesting facts. "Branches of the Mara Salvatrucha (MS 13) gang 2004" total up to 141 in our country. A map along with that shows the concentrations in different states. So why not put people who are a danger to other people into prison, fine heavily other offenders, giving them an incentive to behave and let them go back to work ? But the murderers, the slashers, the rapists, stabbers or abusers of any kind whether young or old pose a heavy problem for us all to cope with. When it gets to the point in modern times that vulnerable babies are footballs and punching bags, it makes me wonder, Where Goest The World ? . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
