Aug. 15, 2004 - 17:47 MDT THE WONDERING JEW Food, Shelter And Poverty I know very litle about things of the world but from what I have read the African Continent has the poorest people in the world. The way it looks to me is that African people are amongst the most abused in the world also. The areas that offer the best natural resources seem to me to be too dangerous for anyone to develop due to politics and fighting. The Sahara Desert keeps moving south without giving ground to green in the north adding to problems. If the reports are to be believed AIDS is rampant as well. And of course being mostly tropical, diseases not seen in the rest of the world are rampant. Or if the tropical portions of South America are as bad, nothing is mentioned about it in the news. I guess Somalia is ancient history now, and Sudan even though the war is still going on there, is losing media ground to the latest outrage. In Burundi, Hutus are killing Tutsi men, women and children without mercy is the latest. Until some newer abomination in the world occurs. Of course the disaster in which we are imbroiled in Iraq is more terrible than can be imagined by most of us. Two things seem to be common all over, one is the poverty, lack of food and shelter for the common folk of a country. Another ? Some of the populace being of another philosophy or creed with each side having once been in power, there is screaming hatred and genocide. Sadly it appears that in Afghanistan and Iraq we have as a country, bit off more than we can chew and swallow and we don't dare spit it out. Obviously much of this conflict is muddied by the fact that Iraq is oil rich and always has been. Isn't that exactly why we are engaged in fighting there and not trying to control other countries massacres ? If the millenium ever gets here, the one we have all been looking for, hopefully there will be an adjustment to the good in the factors of Food, Shelter And Poverty . . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
