Oct. 14, 2003 - 23:07 MDT THE WONDERING JEW To Grind With a few exceptions today was a family day de luxe. John Henry's memorial service was today and with another out of town visitor with us and the consequent ado prior to the service we did make it on time, just barely. Then came the hour and half service, buffet in the church afterward and the visiting, visiting, visiting by family members who very seldom see each other which took a lot of time, consequently we made our way in the middle of rush hour to our home. One lady relative who lives near Sequim, Washington flew in with hopes of also seeing cousins of hers she hadn't seen since she was a little more than a tot and see some cousins she very happily did. It is a shame that it takes a funeral to bring us all together but I guess it is one thing that makes a person feel that they just have to be there, and travel expense is a necessary item. But I guess we all wish we could be well enough off to be able to just take off and go see friends and relatives any time -- hoping to find them able to take the time to visit with us. Wouldn't that be nice ? It was my supreme pleasure to make nice with all our relatives and friends who were there. John Henry's service was great. A great good bye to him was rendered. Half forgotten memories put in front of us by various folk who spoke and some things we did not know about John Henry came out. All good of course. What little of the paper I read today didn't stick, I guess there was no world shaking thing happened that made the news. Not sure about that, and didn't have time to catch the news on TV tonight and we were still visiting until a few minutes ago. One of our guests is leaving on an early flight tomorrow morning. Later in the afternoon we are going to IMAX to see the Lewis & Clark Expedition movie, several of the family will attend there. Soon things will be back to normal, whatever that is. Hoping that some time goes by before one or another of us ails or is hurt. And of course our wish is that Death would take a small holiday, or that he passes over our family for a time. So, tonight I have no moans, whines or axes To Grind . . . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
