Sept. 25, 2003 - 21:34 MDT THE WONDERING JEW No Change A little news item in our paper this morning says,"U.S. maintains global dominance in arms sales."So what are we doing ? Selling stuff that will self destruct if used against us or a friendly nation ? Or does our nation have any friends left ? In other news the AFA scandal is still in the news, boiling away. I guess the "good old boys," are about as blunt as the "good old boys" in the Tailhook scandal. That something like sexual abuse by male cadets against women should happen at the Air Force Academy is bad enough. But that the brass jackasses blew by it and effectively ignored it, thus allowing terrible retribution to be wreaked on those women who were brave enough to report it is beyond toleration of decent society. I wonder if any of those women would have a rape kit available and used at the dispensary or if that was unthinkable too, would they have been given a chance. ? Seems that the Denver Mint has something going in a similar vein, something that has existed for years. Maybe not rape, but discrimination, harassment and treating women as not quite human. Wonder if that in the end will be whitewashed ? On a personal basis, my wife Heather came home from our middle daughter's house where she spent the night after being discharged from hospital following gall bladder surgery. She did well overnight, had a nice breakfast and a good visit with daughter. A bit before noon I took her across town to our apartment, saw to getting her ensconced in her favorite chair with her paraphernalia of video remote, telephone, ice water and Gatorade. Rode shotgun for her when she milled around. She napped a bit and later in the day ate a bowl of potato soup. She enjoyed watching Survivor tonight and went to bed before the ten o'clock news came on. She didn't use any of her prescription pain medication, just took one Tylenol. She thinks she will be more lively tomorrow, I hope so, but I hope she doesn't try to overdo. So for Heather and I there has been a great and happy change, but for the rest of the world it looks as if there has been No Change . . . . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
