Sept. 15, 2003 - 18:57 MDT THE WONDERING JEW 1 To 10 Each of my friends has their own cross to bear, and heavy are some of them. Diabetes, spinal problems, debilitated old relatives, some dying others lying, some smiling and some crying. But three things I think bring us to common ground and suffering, floods, fires and hurricanes. In each one of those disasters people carry their own woes and the struggle to survive that is happening to all nearby. In those events many people who survive will never see life as it once was. So many things that can't be recovered, rebuilt or restored. What can a bread winner do when his place of business is totally wiped off the face of the map ? His car ruined, his bank blown away ? Even though he and his own come through without a scratch, the Red Cross and other agencies can only do so much. And when real help comes, it is usually after a long delay. For those about to suffer from Hurricane Isabel I pray. What is worse ? On a scale from 1 To 10 . . . . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
