Deja Vu Too

A good start is an early Friday Five followed by some errands and retirement party for our daughter-in-law.

1. - How much time do you spend on line each day ?

A - It varies, depending on errands, doctor's appointments, exercising and doing things together with Heather. The rest of my time is on line. Sometimes a lot of time and sometimes very little. Been very busy lately.

2. - What is your browser home page set to ?

A. - The Microsoft Webtv page.

3. - Do you use any instant messaging programs ?

A. - MSN TV Messenger.

4. - Where was your first webpage located ?

A. - Diaryland at http://bastion.diaryland.com called "The Wondering Jew." Still there.

5. - How long have you had your current website ?

A. - First entry was January 15, 2000.

Looks as if they are still flailing around trying to figure just what exactly caused the power outage in the North-east. Having worked at a power plant I do have a slight understanding of the things that can cause outages and how things can snowball into something major. One piece of equipment failing can pull that grid down which in turn can overload other inter-connected grids. Sometimes lightning can be the cause and sometimes something like power lines being heated, drooping and grounding on something like trees. Of course there are many other reasong too.

I do have an idea that the owners of power companies have not kept up to date and have let things age too much. Also, it seems that no one wants a power plant anywhere near their neighborhood and go absolutely bonkers when they think power transmission lines are going to run through it too.

Hopefully, now they will do something in the way of firming up the U.S. power grid. I pray so. I pray that it will be before winter too.

Remembering a few power outages in my lifetime guess it is Deja Vu Too . . . . . . . . . . .
