Mar. 16, 2003 - 23:14 MST THE WONDERING JEW It Is New There is a new dressing for battle field wounds in the process of being approved that results in almost instant clotting of the blood in a bleeding wound. An article in the Sunday paper here "Clotting bandage may come to aid of battle casualties." Developed by The Oregon Medical Laser Center in Portland, Oregon. It is a flexible bandage made of chitin (it is the material of the exoskeleton of most creepy crawly critters), this chitin comes from shrimp. It is a non-allergenic material and has the function of causing a bleeding wound to clot up almost instantly. The applications are amazing. And like all advances in medical science devoted to battle field wounds, soon those bandages will be out in over the counter form for the general public I think. Tonight it is nice to talk about something beneficial and It Is New . . . . . . . . . . . 0 comments so far
