Contact Kelli, temporary manager of Doug's "The Wondering Jew" |
2000-04-26 - 23:54:52 April 26, 2000 Rest and recreation Wandered about today, still enjoying the wonderful display of Nature's bounty. Leisurely doing a few errands, eating at our new hangout, a Mexican food cafe near where we live. A place which can suit any level of expense availability. Gentle courteous service with a real smile. We like it there and will keep eating there until they go the usual way - - - American. Raise the prices, cut the quantity, the hell with the quality and pay the employees so low that a smile cannot be pried out of them. Remember when a Taco Salad at Taco Bell was large, good, well made ? I order one occasionally, but, they seem to be shrinking. Not well made to my notion. Did you ever notice (or are you old enough yet) that when a good stable, established business' owner dies off or retires that you might as well figure the damn thing is going down, the only question is, how long will it take. A good, successful business takes many years of brain work and sweat effort, assuring a fair quantity for the price and perfect quality, wonderful customer relations. After a lot of years it is running fabulously and making a good profit for the owner. I remember one department store here in Denver which handled quality goods at a fair price which had a tea room on one of the upper floors for the rich and famous and a bargain basement also. As long as your deportment was acceptable it didn't matter how you were dressed you were treated as a human who wanted to buy something. I worked at a winery and would have to stop there in my dirty, wine soaked clothes and make a necessary purchase now and then. I was met with respect and helpful courtesy which allowed me my dignity. I was thanked for my patronage, graciously. How well I remember shopping there whenever I needed something they sold. The "hot shot" "hoity toity" stores did not even get visited me after I would get the sniffing snoot from each one. Are manners, courtesy, helpfulness and appreciation gone from the business scene here in my country ? What next, cowboy ? ? ? ? ? 0 comments so far
