The closer to election it seems, the more mud is slung, the more vicious are the insinuations and the less said by the indiviuals running that makes any sense or makes any attempt to face the issues -- or garbles what the actual issues are.

Along about this time I reach a point of having the old attitude, "Throw the rascals out." All of them. Now. See what the other parties have to offer. Do something other than what is being done over and over again.

Millions are being spent on campaigns. Where is the money going ? I know money through the sieve goes into the campaign war chest. By hook or crook in it shall flow ya know. But doggone where is it going ? Does TV time cost all that much ? Seems to me that the money is being used to buy people, groups, unearned popularity. Big politicos coming to towns to back the local jackals (oops) yokels. That costs money, big money.

That's the American way of life they say. But they offer no explanations nor viable excuses why it should be so. At least not to my understanding and acceptance. Crusty old bird soaked in cynicism I am and see no reason to not be so.

So what else is new ? Here in Denver the snow falls as do my spirits, the deeper and longer it falls the lower my spirits droop. Wouldn't last ten minutes in the land of the mid-might sun would I ? Maybe I should just go vote on the appropriate day and quit nattering about it beforehand. But I really would like my vote to count for something real, something that would help us as a country.

Generally speaking the average guy does not have the time to dig and delve to find out all the voting details in the Senate and House -- even if he did I doubt that I would understand all the ins and outs of the questions. So, basically, we are at the sound bite mercy of The Noose Of News . . . . . . .
