As we go about our daily business of survival and grumble to ourselves about how hard we have it. Sometimes we fail to see a male co-worker loading groceries into his car on his way home to a wife dying of cancer and two or three children whose welfare is his sole responsibility now. Or the lady three doors down who rides mass transit to and from work and has to pack mule her groceries in her arms to her home where, inside are two aging, feeble, sometimes ill parents in her care. The man you know as a fellow lodge member who unknown to you has a physical condition causing great pain, aggravated piles which do not respond to medication. Another acqaintance whose feet are in pain every day, unmercifully unrelenting torture. Or the person you know as a decent, cheery person who is secretly fighting depression not brought on by that person, but an enemy who stole in undercover of ? perhaps sleep ? Who really knows the true story of a divorce ? The split pair each has a distinctly different story, their acquaintances another one, their kids have their own personally gathered history of what they know, two law firms, one for each side put forth their slanted version of the case. The two involved can't say for sure, until coached by others into a story that is not true. Divorce sometimes is a necessary evil, but to my mind, even when it is necessary there is attendant heartbreak and misery and sometimes poverty for one.

We are unaware and proceed blindly on our way with the mistaken idea that because we feel good, we are happy and financially secure that all is right with the world. And most of us fail to have enough compassionate curiosity to keenly observe the people you know and read the little things that show a person in trouble . Or have the desire to do anything personally to help. We all know better, is it because we don't want to get involved, get our hands dirty and our heart wrenched ? Or is it the snide, I've got mine attitude ? What are the hidden motives of cruelty and deliberate ignoring of others ?

I only have the knowledge to see the problems and neither the knowledge, experience and strength to alleviate all of them. In fact one person can help little, but a whole country of helping hands could accomplish miracles. I am going to try to help, are you ?
